One of the big challenges of being self reliant is all of the problems the outside world throws at you. Just when you start making progress a curve ball is thrown your way. In the United States you have to have a source of income. That is just a given fact. This means that most of us have to have some form of employment. Changes of employment are just part of life. In the past year I have faced three changes in my employment situation. At the first of the year I have an 8 hour, five day a week job. This enabled me to do my writing, videos and more. Well with a corporate decision that changed in one week. My team went to 10 hour shifts. This caused me some major issues on being able to work on my passion. My passion is this blog, my videos, and hopefully teaching as many people as possible.
This didn't last very long. I was transferred to another department. This department was having problems. I don't mind being a problem solver. This new position required quite a bit of overtime. Since changing departments there has not been a single week where I have not had a good bit of overtime. In fact one week I worked 76 hours. Needless to say while working that schedule, getting any content at all out was a real challenge. I love making content for you my friends.
Well, I have been offered and I have accepted another position. In this position I will be back to 5 days a week and 8 hours a day. I hope this will open up the time that is needed to begin producing content.
Don't get me wrong. I know that the challenges that I have been facing are nothing compared to some. I have been through a lot tougher times. I am convinced that once you find your passion, everything will try to get in the way of fulfilling that desire.
Too many times we sacrifice our passions for the illusion of security. I for one believe that we should take care of our responsibility, but at the same time we should go after our dreams. Rolling with the punches is just part of the deal. Work toward your passions as I work toward mine.
Thanks for hanging in there with me. I would love to hear about your dreams.
